The Dinosaur Tree

Genesis 1:11

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.”

I like trees. I like walking through woods. But I guess if we want to talk about fossils, then most people think that dinosaurs are much more interesting than trees. Let me change your mind by telling you about Australia’s Wollemi Pine.

This tree grows in the Wollemi National Park, in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. The Wollemi Pine was discovered in 1994. But here is what makes it remarkable. There are fossils of this tree, but none of the fossils are more recent than 200 million years old, according to evolutionary dates. Of course, we don’t accept the evolutionary dates, but, if you do, then there is a problem. Evolutionists claim that dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago, as no more “recent” fossils exist. That is why they poke fun at anyone who thinks dinosaurs might still have been around until the recent past. But before the discovery of this tree actually growing, the pine could have been considered extinct for 200 million years – that is a full 135 million years BEFORE dinosaurs were said to die out.

Some well-meaning Christians think that the discovery of a live dinosaur would destroy the theory of evolution. Unfortunately not! Evolutionists simply remark how “exciting” it is that a tree has survived unchanged for so long! But we are not surprised. These trees were created by God on Day Three – just three days before God created dinosaurs.
